The New York CityHawks were a team in the Arena Football League. Beginning play in 1997, the team name was a response to the peregrine falcon, several of which make their nest high on top New York City's skyscrapers. The team played at Madison Square Garden. The team played poorly on the field and in 1998, former NCAA football coach Chuck Shelton was the team's head coach. After that season, they moved to Hartford, Connecticut and became the New England Sea Wolves and then moved again, this time to Toronto, Ontario, Canada, where they became the Toronto Phantoms. After a total of 6 seasons, the team folded altogether.
